Reims Champagne Tours

Where to Stay for Reims Champagne Tours

Where you sleep decides which tours you can join without a taxi. The shared tours start in Reims, a few start in Épernay, and the private days collect you from either. Pick the base that fits your Reims Champagne tour.

Three bases, compared

Here are the three places people stay, set against where the tours actually start.

Reims centre, by the station square

If you want a shared tour, stay in central Reims. The station information point on the Cour de la Gare is where they meet: the grower morning at 9:20 am, the grower afternoon at 2:00 pm, and most shared full days.

One full day starts at Reims Cathedral instead, from its left-side gate at 9:30 am. The two city tastings are in the Boulingrin district, at 25 rue Henri IV and 2 rue Olivier Métra. So a hotel between the station and the cathedral puts every start within a short walk.

Champagne-Ardenne TGV is not Reims Centre

Reims has two stations. Reims Centre is in town, on the square where the tours meet. Champagne-Ardenne TGV, at Bezannes, lies outside it.

Check which station your ticket names. From Champagne-Ardenne TGV, Épernay's tourist office sends you by tram to Reims Centre, then on by train. Veuve Clicquot puts the TGV station 10 minutes' drive from its visit centre. Both stations are on the Reims champagne map.

Épernay, for the avenue and the vines

Épernay suits you if the Avenue de Champagne is the point. The station is under 10 minutes' walk from the tourist office, and the avenue five minutes from the station. Direct trains from Paris Gare de l'Est take about 80 minutes.

One Reims day ends on the avenue, 150 m from Épernay station, so you can finish there and stay the night.

Staying in Paris and coming for the day

You can do it in a day from Paris, and you have two ways to go:

The train, then a Reims tour

The TGV takes about 45 minutes. Arrive at Reims Centre and walk to the station square for a half day or a full day. One train day includes the tickets from Gare de l'Est, at $645, but it is non-refundable.

A tour from Paris

You spend 11 to 12 hours out, about four of them on the road. Some collect you from your hotel; one leaves a Paris café at 7:00 am sharp. Fares run $262 to $848.

Where to stay: quick answers

Should I stay in Reims or Épernay for champagne tours?
Reims, if you want the shared tours: most meet on the Reims Centre station square. Épernay suits a private day, the jeep or an evening on the Avenue de Champagne. The two are 30 minutes apart by train.
Do champagne tours pick up from hotels in Reims?
The private days do, in Reims and Épernay. The shared half days and day tours meet on the station square instead.
Can I do a champagne tour from Paris without staying over?
Yes. Tours from Paris run 11 to 12 hours, with hotel pickup or a 7:00 am start. Or take the TGV to Reims, about 45 minutes, and join a Reims tour.
Is Champagne-Ardenne TGV station in Reims?
No, it is outside the centre, at Bezannes. The shared tours meet at Reims Centre station, so check which station your ticket names.
Do I need a car for a champagne tour?
No. The tours drive you between cellars, and the fares cover the tastings. With a driver, nobody in your party has to spit.

Where these facts come from

Pickup areas and meeting points come from each tour's own listing. Train times and distances come from the Épernay tourist office, Lanson and Moët & Chandon.
