What a Reims Champagne private tour actually is
Your party rides alone with a driver-guide, collected from your hotel or station in Reims
or Épernay. Most private days run seven to nine hours. The route, the pace and often the
houses change with what you ask for.
The fares are per person, not per car, and most need at least two of you. The full days
cost $525 to $848 per person. Two shorter private visits cost far less: the
Coutant family's two-hour vineyard visit, from $70 per person, and the jeep in the
vines above Épernay, $234 for up to three.
One private car starts in Paris: Parismatic collects you at your Paris hotel for Pommery
and a small producer, from $848 per person.
Why choose a private tour
Pickup at your door
Uncork collects you anywhere within 30 minutes' drive of Reims. À La Française goes up to
40 km, including Champagne-Ardenne TGV station. Royal Journey France will collect you in
Paris for a EUR 750 return supplement.
The houses you ask for
You can ask for Veuve Clicquot, Moët & Chandon, Ruinart, Pommery or Taittinger. Royal
Journey France books one or two of them by their availability. On a shared day from Reims,
the house is fixed.
Room for children and car seats
France Intense, Uncork, Royal Journey France, À La Française and Coutant list infant
seats, and Uncork welcomes children of any age. À La Française's shared tours from the
station square take no one under 10.
Wheelchair access, on a few
Uncork's day, À La Française's private growers day and the Coutant visit are listed as
wheelchair accessible. No shared day from Reims is.
Private tours vs small-group tours
The alternative is a shared van for eight from the Reims station square. Here is how they
compare.
| A private full day | A shared full day | A shared half day |
|---|
| What you pay | $525 to $848 per person | $245 to $321 per person | $140 to $183 per person |
| Who rides | Your party only | Up to 7 or 8 | Up to 8 |
| Where you start | Your hotel or station | The Reims station square or the cathedral | The Reims station square |
| Who pours | The houses and growers you ask for | A fixed house and growers | Family growers only |
| Children | Infant seats on many | No one under 10 on À La Française's | No one under 10 on À La Française's |
| Best for | Families, groups and a named house | A first day with lunch | An afternoon between trains |
Check availability from $579
A shared day costs a good deal less per person: $245 to $321, against
$525 to $848. A private day earns its fare when you want your own pace, your own houses, pickup at the door or seats for young
children.
What you get, and what you don't
- Included: a private vehicle and driver-guide, pickup and drop-off, and
the visits and tastings on your route.
- Lunch on most: Sparkling Tour, Stéphane Demissy, Royal Journey France
and À La Française's private growers day put it in the fare.
- Lunch not included: on Uncork's day, on Parismatic's and on France
Intense's, where a champagne lunch is an extra EUR 100 per person.
- Subject to availability: the famous houses. France Intense says another
great house may replace the one you booked.
- Not included: tips, and a Paris pickup on the days that start in Reims or
Épernay.
Moët & Chandon, with room for everyone
Uncork's private day is listed for wheelchairs, strollers and infant seats: Moët & Chandon's cellars, Hautvillers and a boutique producer.

Planning a private tour
- Do the sum for your party: fares are per person. For two people on
Sparkling Tour's day, that is $1,159 in all.
- Name the house early: if Veuve Clicquot matters, say so when you book.
Its visit centre was closed from 28 December 2025 to 7 April 2026, and opens every day only
from 29 June to 30 August.
- Give your pickup address: most private days collect you only in Reims or
Épernay. Parismatic and Royal Journey France's paid option are the Paris pickups.
- Read the refund rule: À La Française's private growers day with lunch is
non-refundable. The rest refund in full up to 24 hours ahead.
The Reims Champagne tour prices guide explains why a private day costs what it does.
Who should choose something else
- If you are travelling alone. Most private days need two people, which
doubles your cost. A seat on one of the shared Reims Champagne day tours is priced for one.
- If your budget is tight. A half day with two family growers costs
$140 to $183 per person.
- If you are staying in Paris and want a shared day. The Reims Champagne tours from Paris start at
a hotel or a café in Paris.
- If you only want an hour's tasting. Two tasting bars in central Reims
pour three glasses or more, from $51 per person.
Frequently asked questions
Do tours pick up from my hotel?
Private tours do, in Reims and Épernay: Uncork up to 30 minutes' drive from Reims, À La Française up to 40 km. The shared half days and day tours meet at the station square. Paris hotel pickup comes with the Paris tours, or as a EUR 750 option on Royal Journey France's private days.
Is a private tour priced per person or per car?
Per person, on every private tour except the jeep. Most need at least two people, so a couple pays twice the fare shown. The jeep from Épernay is one fare for up to three.
Can a private tour guarantee Veuve Clicquot or Moët & Chandon?
Not always. France Intense and Royal Journey France both book the famous houses subject to their availability, and another house may take a slot's place. Tell the operator which house matters most when you book.
Can I book a private tour on my own?
Most private days need at least two people. Uncork, Stéphane Demissy and Parismatic list no minimum, and the jeep takes one to three for a single fare.
Do the private tours have child seats?
Several do. France Intense, Uncork, Royal Journey France, À La Française, Parismatic and Coutant all list infant seats. Give the operator your children's ages when you book.
Is the jeep tour priced per person?
No. The jeep tour from Épernay is priced per group of up to three, so one fare covers everyone in the jeep. Every other fare listed is per person.
Are the tours wheelchair accessible?
A few listings say so: Uncork's private Moët & Chandon day, À La Française's private growers day and the Coutant vineyard visit. Most others do not. At the houses, Veuve Clicquot takes wheelchairs down on request and
Mumm's visit reaches only its first level.
Can I cancel a booking?
Most tours refund in full if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead. À La Française's private growers day with lunch and LinkParis' Veuve Clicquot day by train are non-refundable, and the Club Trésors tasting needs two days' notice. Each card states its own policy.
