Reims Champagne Tour Prices: What Each Fare Includes
A Reims champagne tour costs anything from an hour's tasting in town to a private day at two famous houses. The spread is wide because the fares buy different things: who pours, how many glasses, whether lunch is included, and whether your party rides alone. This guide sets every price band side by side, explains what each one buys, and shows how to compare them before your Reims Champagne booking.
What does a Reims champagne tour cost?
Here are the bands, from the listings' own starting prices. Every fare is per person except the jeep, which is per group.
| Kind of tour | Fare from | Length | Lunch |
|---|---|---|---|
| A tasting in a Reims cellar or bar | $51 to $57 | 1 to 2 hours | No |
| A short private vineyard visit | $70 | 2 hours | No |
| The jeep in the vines, Épernay | $234 per group of up to 3 | 2 h 15 | No |
| A half day with family growers | $140 to $183 | 3 h 30 to 4 h 30 | No |
| A shared full day from Reims | $245 to $321 | 7 to 9 hours | On two of the three |
| A day from Paris | $262 to $848 | 9 to 12 hours | Only on the train day |
| A private full day from Reims | $525 to $848 | 7 to 9 hours | On most |
These are starting prices for one adult on the listing's cheapest date. The booking page prices your date and your party, and the total at checkout is the one you pay.
What does the cheapest tour include?
The lowest fare is an hour at Chez Marie et Maxime's tasting table in central Reims, from $51. You get three glasses and a sommelier's explanation of how champagne is made. It does not leave town.
The cheapest trip to the vineyards is the morning half day from the station square, from $140. It includes the van, a guide, two family growers and six tastings, but no lunch and no hotel pickup. The afternoon version costs $152.
Why do private tours cost so much more per person?
Because your party pays for the whole vehicle and a guide's whole day. The private full days cost $525 to $848 per person, and most need at least two of you. So a couple on Sparkling Tour's day pays $1,159 in all.
In return you get pickup at your hotel, a route built around your request, room for children and car seats, and often the famous houses. Royal Journey France adds concierge service and lunch at the Royal Champagne hotel. For a couple who wants those things, the fare buys them. For a couple who does not, a shared day at $245 to $321 does the same producers for less.
Is lunch in the fare?
On most full days from Reims, yes. The Mumm day, Champagne Dream Tour's Pommery day, Sparkling Tour's, Stéphane Demissy's, Royal Journey France's and À La Française's private growers day all include it.
It is not included on the half days, on Wine Tours Paris' day (the operator books the restaurant, you pay), on Uncork's or France Intense's days, or on the road days from Paris. France Intense sells a champagne tasting lunch as an extra, at EUR 100 per person.
What would the house visits cost you direct?
An entry-level visit costs EUR 30 at Mumm, EUR 32 at Lanson, EUR 36 at Veuve Clicquot, EUR 48 at Pommery and EUR 90 at Ruinart. In Épernay, Moët & Chandon starts at EUR 48 and Mercier at EUR 25. Taittinger publishes no price in advance.
So two Reims house visits on your own cost EUR 62 to EUR 138 per person, plus the train to Épernay. A tour costs more because it adds the growers, the driver and the villages. The houses without a tour guide shows how to book them yourself.
Do children pay less?
Every fare above is a starting price for one adult. The booking page prices each child by age, where the tour takes children at all: À La Française's shared tours take no one under 10, and the e-bike needs riders of 16 or over. Uncork's private day and the Coutant visit welcome children of any age.
At the houses, Ruinart charges EUR 50 for ages 7 to 17 and nothing under 7. Lanson charges EUR 15 for ages 7 to 12 and EUR 20 for 13 to 17. The cathedral towers are free under 18, and the cathedral itself is free for everyone. Nobody under 18 is served alcohol, so a child's fare buys the visit, not the glass.
What does a Paris start add to the price?
A shared day from Paris costs $262 to $298 per person, against $245 to $321 for a shared day from Reims. The Paris fare pays for about four hours of road, and for a start at your hotel or a Paris café.
The train day from Paris costs $645, with the rail tickets, lunch and ten tastings in the fare. On the private days, Royal Journey France charges EUR 750 for a return transfer from Paris; Parismatic's private day from Paris costs $848 per person. The Reims Champagne tours from Paris page compares them all.
Which fares cannot be refunded?
Two. À La Française's private growers day with lunch and LinkParis' Veuve Clicquot day by train cannot be refunded or changed once booked. Book them only when your dates are firm.
The Club Trésors de Champagne tasting refunds in full up to two days ahead. Every other tour refunds in full up to 24 hours before it starts.
What about tips?
They are not in any fare, and they are optional. Several listings name gratuities among the exclusions. If your guide or driver made the day, a tip is a thank-you, not a charge.
How do you compare fares by the glass?
Divide the fare by the glasses the listing promises. It is a rough measure, because some fares include lunch or the train, but it shows what each day is built around.
| Tour | Fare from | Glasses | Per glass |
|---|---|---|---|
| An hour's tasting in town | $51 per person | 3 | $17 |
| Morning with two growers | $140 per person | 6 | $23 |
| Afternoon with two growers | $152 per person | 6 | $25 |
| ABC Champagne Tour, half day | $183 per person | 6 | $30 |
| The Mumm day, with lunch | $292 per person | 7 | $41 |
| Blue Fox Travel, from Paris | $263 per person | 6 | $43 |
| Sparkling Tour, private, with lunch | $579 per person | 10 | $57 |
| Train day from Paris, with lunch | $645 per person | 10 | $64 |
| Stéphane Demissy, private, with lunch | $690 per person | 10 | $69 |
The half days with growers pour the most glasses for the money. The dearer days spend the difference on lunch, a house's cellars, the drive from Paris or a private vehicle.
Does a higher fare buy a better-rated day?
Not by itself. Every tour we list rates between 4.7 and 5.0, so the rating will not choose for you. The most-booked tour of all, the afternoon with two family growers, rates 4.8 from 643 reviews at $152. The private days rate 4.9 or 5.0, each from 60 reviews or fewer.
What a higher fare buys is visible in the listing: a famous house's cellars, lunch, a private vehicle, pickup at your door or the drive from Paris. Pay for the ones you want, and skip the ones you do not.
What costs are not in any fare?
- Getting to the start. Your train to Reims, or a taxi to the station square, unless your tour collects you.
- Lunch, where it is excluded, and drinks at lunch: Champagne Dream Tour's day, for one, leaves the lunch drinks to you.
- Bottles. Most tastings end where you can buy, and nothing in any fare covers what you take home.
- Tips, which are optional.
How do the per-group fares work?
Only the jeep is priced per group. The jeep tour in the vines above Épernay costs $234 for up to three, which is about $78 each when the jeep is full.
Everything else is per person, including the private days. Read "per person" on a private listing as the price of one seat in a car you have to fill to the minimum, which is two on most. The Reims private champagne tours page sets them side by side.
